1. Xiaomi Mi 9
In the mid-range market, many smartphones have been branded as the flagship killers, however, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is the most deserving of the moniker. With its amazing an amazing processor, great screen, fantastic camera array that is one of the most versatile in the market, lengthy battery life, and simply no downsides. Xiaomi has delivered again, without compromise.
Design and aesthetic wise the Xiaomi Mi 9 is an attractive device, making some tweaks to the design of its predecessor, with curves all around the body, making it very pleasing to hold in hand. I can comfortably say that the Xiaomi Mi 9 is a very slim device measuring between 7.6mm to 3.5mm in thickness, and it looks beautiful in all of its paint jobs, especially in the Ocean Blue one, looking like a holographic pattern, nearly iridescent, just amazing. One of the nicest details I liked was the ‘Halo’ around its main lens in the camera array, perfect design.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 rocks a great display as well, the 6.39-inch AMOLED display with an aspect ratio fo 19.5:9 making it a little long and a resolution of 1080x2340p delivering plenty of sharpness and amazing colour. It also supports HDR content and has plenty of brightness, while it may not deliver the same performance of the high-end phones, it is pretty close.
In the performance department, the Xiaomi Mi 9 is equipped with the strongest 855 SoC processor that is powerful enough to go through everything and deliver an amazingly smooth experience. To aid the amazing processor it has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space.
The camera array of this device has three incredible sensors, consisting of the 48MP main lens, a 12MP telephoto sensor, and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, delivering a strong camera experience in every situation regardless of the light conditions. It is worth mentioning that the sensors are provided by Sony and Samsung, and those are the best in the business in this segment.
With strong battery life to round up the package, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will please and surprise everyone. Definitely one of the best mid-range smartphones out there.
2. Xiaomi Pocophone F1
While the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is still to build a strong reputation in the western market, it still produces some excellent phones in all price ranges, and I can comfortably say that whichever Xiaomi phone you choose you to get excellent value. They have a solid lineup with a good range, however, the phone that delivers the most bang for your buck is the Xiaomi Pocophone F1, with an amazing performance that can only be found in flagship phones.
Of course, the company has taken some measures to cut the costs, to deliver this excellent phone at a bargain price. Especially in the design department, opting for a more simple and subtle design, choosing to go with a plastic polycarbonate chassis that delivers decent durability and style thanks to its great assembly and attention to detail. It is a little thicker than most phones at 8.8mm, and it looks a little bulky, however, when you take the device in your hands it feels good and delivers a good comfortable hold.
The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is equipped with an amazing 6.18-inch IPS LCD panel with a Full HD+ 2246×1080 resolution, delivering vivid colours, great detail and can get pretty bright in the process. It has an aspect ratio of 18.7:9, which is close to the standard but feels wide. It is interesting to see that Xiaomi has delivered a flagship-level display in this phone.
In the performance department, this phone is at the top of the table, and I was really confused as to why the manufacturer has equipped this phone with a flagship category CPU and gave it a rock bottom price. It is equipped with the mighty Snapdragon 845 CPU with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, excellent performance, truly breathtaking.
While testing with synthetic benchmark tests for overall performance it ranked among the top 10 phones in the market, and mind you they were all flagship models. It delivered an excellent gaming experience with plenty of smoothness through all games, and with its 4000mAh you will enjoy a lengthy gaming session among your daily tasks before the phone giving up.
If you want to get the most for your hard-earned dollar this is your best bet.
3. Motorola Moto G7 Power
In the recent years, Motorola has been in the rise chasing its glory days and has manufactured solid options of smartphones, especially the G7 series that has been nothing but excellent so far. They have provided a great all-around performance with attractive prices for the mid-range and budget consumers. The G7 Power has been one of their most popular so far, with great battery life and exceptional durability that you can’t find in more expensive products.
The Motorola Moto G7 Power has gone with the edge-to-edge design like its competitors, with the notch design for the front camera, unlike the original G7 with the teardrop design.
However, it has slightly thicker bezels on the bottom and top, and it is a little heavier and thicker than the legacy model, measuring 9.3mm thick and 198grams in weight. It rocks a mirrored finish on its back, though, with the Motorola logo that houses the fingerprint scanner. It is worth stating that the phone has a P2i water repellent nano-coating which does wonders.
This phone rocks a 6.2-inch IPS LCD panel with a 1520×720 HD resolution resulting in a pixel density of 271.2 PPI, and a strange aspect ratio of 19:9. It might not be the best screen in the market, but the colours were excellent and natural, as the screen managed to reproduce 123% of the sRGB colour gamut, and a maximum brightness of about 558nits.
Thanks to its IPS LCD and lacking sharpness due to the resolution the battery of this phone performs excellently. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 CPU with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, that is excellent spec sheet for the price, and it was pretty smooth in day to day use.
When it comes to the battery it has a 5000mAh unit which delivers a tremendous performance of 15hours of continuous use with my testing, and in practical use, it should last about 3 days before it will need charging.
The most durable phone with the longest battery life, it doesn’t get better than this.

Furthermore, its camera array consists of a 25MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor, and on the front, it rocks a 25MP selfie camera. The performance was pretty good and was one of the best in its class, you will be able to achieve some pleasant photos with that array.

The HONOR View 20 is an excellent option, coming in with the dual-sim functionality, great battery life, an amazing clever camera, modern edge to edge display and many more at this bargain package.
Despite being a mid-range phone, the HONOR View 20 rocks flashy aesthetics, its an attention grabber for sure. It has an ‘Aurora nanotexture’ design as the manufacturer has marketed it, with the chevron gradients reflecting light at attractively, it is bold for sure, but the company has done a great job. The front panel also looks perfect with its high screen-to-body ratio on its 6.4-inch screen, however, it is really easy to get hold of it comfortably, thanks to its perfect ergonomics.
The aforementioned 6.4-inch screen is LCD panel, with a resolution of 1080×2310 resulting in plenty of detail. Before talking more about the display, I want to mention the front camera that is also integrated on to the top left corner of the display and looks better and less annoying than other models.
Back to the topic, the colours were excellent and warm enough, the screen looked pretty lively, brightness levels were also pretty good, and the overall viewing experience is stunning.
The HONOR View 20 is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities, and I found out that it put out a solid performance, and you can go about the day and a half with moderate use between charges.
