With just 5 hours of battery life, it can a little disappointing but considering the specs it has, the battery backup is much better than a lot of other competitors in the market. However, it’s not of much use for beginners or rookies. If you don’t understand its features, the machine is not for you.

The drawback of this laptop is its short battery life and weight. Owing to multiple screens, its battery gets exhausted in just 3-4 hours. Also, it’s not as sleek and as light, as you would like. Caution: Just like most of the gaming laptops, there could be a lot of heating or performance issues if you use it from your lap. However, when using from the table, it really is a great device!

Asus ZenBook 14
  • CPU: 4.6GHz Intel Core i7-8565U
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 512GB SSD
  • Display: 14-inch FHD (1920 x 1080)
  • GPU: 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150
  • Battery: Up to 6 hours

The Asus ZenBook 14 is loaded with essential features that make it one of the best laptops in the market. The screen is surrounded by tiny bezels. One of the most convenient features of this laptop is its backlit keyboard and multiple brightness setting which makes it perfect for work purposes as the lights could be adjusted and the keyboard allows users to work in low light.

This Zenbook has an Intel Core i7-8565U processor with 4.6GHz clock speed. It is aided with 2GB NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card. It also has 16GB and 512GB SSD RAM and storage capacity respectively. On the display front, it has a 14-inch Full HD screen with 1920 x 1080 max pixel resolution.

The ZenBook 14 also has a USB-C port, a USB 3.1 input and an HDMI connector on the left and a microSD card slot next to a USB 2.0 port and a mic jack on the right. With 2.4 lbs of weight, it is pretty lightweight.

One downside of this laptop is that it’s trackpad lags at times and as the laptop comes with a bunch of pre-installed software, it can get a bit slower. However, Asus has fixed the problem with the trackpad in the latest models.

  • Compact and durable design
  • Innovative LED number pad
  • Decent speakers
  • Competitive price

  • Finicky keypad
  • Poor webcam

4. Best budget-friendly Gaming Laptop: Asus TUF (2019)

Asus TUF (2019)
  • CPU: 4 GHz AMD Ryzen
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 512GB SSD
  • Display: 15.6-inch FHD IPS (1920×1080)
  • GPU: 6GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
  • Camera: 720p
  • Battery: Up to 4 hours

The Asus TUF is perfect for those who are looking for a budget gaming laptop as it showcases performance that is impressive at the given price. The audio is also decent enough and is one of the strong points of this laptop.

The laptop has AMD Ryzen processor that runs with 4GHz speed. It has 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. It weighs around 4.85 lbs.

The 1920×1080 resolution and 15.6-inch Full HD display did little to please us during our use. In fact, we found that the brightness level of the screen is not satisfactory. The keyboard features a red backlight for the number pad. While talking about the design, it is nothing mind-blowing either. The body is made of plastic and has a lined pattern along with the company logo in red.

We discovered that the ASUS TUF with 6GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 is best suitable for games that are not too intensive as the computer might lag if you try to run complicated programs in it. The battery life of the laptop is just around 4 hours which makes it an unpopular option if you are looking to buy it for work purposes.

  • Anti-dust technology with dual fans
  • Reasonable price
  • Impressive audio quality

  • Very poor battery life
  • Performance does not meet expectations
  • Dim screen

5. Best Thin Gaming Laptop: Asus ROG Zephyrus

Asus ROG Zephyrus
  • CPU: 3.9GHz Intel Core i7-8750H
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 512GB SSD
  • Display: 15.6-inch FHD IPS (1920 x 1080)
  • GPU: 8GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
  • Camera: 2MP
  • Battery: Up to 5 hours
  • Warranty: 1 year

We have tried games such as Far Cry 3, Black Ops 4 on maximum resolution and the performance was nowhere near stuttery. From what we’ve seen, there isn’t any current game on the market the ASUS ROG Zephyrus isn’t capable of smoothly processing. Even a minimum fps of 60 isn’t hard to sustain for it. It has 8GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics unit.

For a gaming laptop, which is a power-hungry model as it is, it is capable of working well for 4.5 hours if you keep the brightness dim. ROG Zephyrus works on a 3.9GHz Intel Core i7-8750H processing unit. It has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. It has an average weight of around 4.5 lbs.

The laptop has a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display. The color accuracy is another thing that really attracted us to this laptop. It’s vibrant for watching videos and streaming games. Even under the direct sunlight, the brightness ensured there is no lack of visibility.

Combine that with the matte finish and it kept the glares at bay. The 144hz refresh rate and the fast response time made even simply playing with the mouse cursor fun.

The keys are slightly elevated, giving it a nice touch while typing or playing games. The last thing a gamer wants to do is accidentally press the wrong key while playing.

  • Good price
  • Sleek elegant design
  • Thermal temperature is good

  • Lack of ethernet port
  • The laptop makes a bit of noise
  • Side by side keypad and trackpad can be inconvenient

6. Best for Gamers: Asus ROG Strix Hero II

The Asus ROG Strix Hero II is one of the best laptops for gaming. Its robust specifications include Intel Core i7-8750H (3.9GHz) processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics. This means that users will be able to play the latest titles without facing any problems. This laptop also has a colorful 144-GHz panel with mesmerizing speakers (highly suitable for listening to music.)

The laptop provides sufficient storage space with 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD capacity. It works on 16GB RAM. It weighs 5.29 lbs and has Up to 7 hours of battery life.

The laptop has a stylish aluminum lip and has a metallic-gray ROG logo engraved. It has a 15.6-inch IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. The 144-GHz panel is extremely vivid and bright and it captures each detail that appears on the screen. It has an island-style keyboard with incredibly soft palm rests for ultimate comfort.  The space-bar is carved and the keyboard as a whole adds a gritty aesthetic to the Asus Hero II.

The speakers are ferocious and powerful. Users are guaranteed to be blown away with the intensity of the bilateral sounds and the extraordinary treble and bass. The 6GB of VRAM allows smooth running of high-quality video games such as Shadow of War.

Overall, the laptop is powerful, sturdy and stylish.

  • Vivid 1440GHz panel
  • Excellent keyboard
  • Above-average battery life

  • Lower placement of webcam
  • Bottom runs hot

7. Best for Engineers: Asus VivoBook S15

Asus VivoBook S15
  • CPU: 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-8250U
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 256GB SSD
  • Display: 15.6-inch LCD (1920 x 1080)
  • GPU: Intel HD Graphics 620
  • Battery: Up to 5 hours

While the Asus VivoBook S15 isn’t as good as we would have liked it to be nor would we recommend it for a gamer, it is a good laptop for engineering students.

For one thing, the laptop is super fast. Not only is it capable of keeping multiple tabs and video open at the same time, but even the closing and opening is super fast. While a shutdown and boot up take 30 seconds at most, simply closing the laptop and then opening it has the screen warming within 2 seconds; all thanks to 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-8250U processor and 8GB RAM.

However, the storage space is very less with just 256GB SSD. The Intel HD Graphics 620 graphics gives an average performance. The bezel is thin with the screen being 15.6 inches LCD. The 1920 x 1080 resolution makes the experience of watching Netflix, Youtube amazing but be careful not to drop the laptop as the corners can get scratched too.

The one thing that disappointed us is the battery life. It doesn’t even last 3 hours at best. You have to keep it plugged in almost at all times. The volume isn’t all that great either but if you’re a student who only has to get some studying done, it is good enough.

  • User-friendly
  • Nice design
  • Doesn’t heat up while you’re working

  • Graphic color isn’t a good tone
  • Brightness is dim
  • Volume is too low even at maximum

8. Best for All-round Performance: Asus ZenBook

Asus ZenBook
  • CPU: 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-8265U
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 256GB SSD
  • Display: 13.3-inch FHD LCD (1920 x 1080)
  • GPU: Intel HD integrated
  • Camera: RGB Combo camera
  • Battery: Up to 5 hours

The Asus ZenBook laptop is lightweight and affordable. It features a very powerful 8th Gen Core i5-8265U processor and 1.6 GHz speed with an Intel U-HD 620 GPU. The 13-inch laptop weighs around 2.7 pounds and the dimension is 11.9 x 7.4 x 0.7 inches. It has a max resolution of 1920 x 1080. The ZenBook 13 has room for a USB Type-A port and even an HDMI port.

However, considering all the feedback received about the ZenBook 13, its battery life is not how it is advertised. Users get up to 10 hours of battery life provided the only work done is typing or browsing the internet.

The display is one of the best parts of this laptop. It has excellent viewing angles. Other key advantages of purchasing the ASUS ZenBook is its beautiful aesthetic exterior and its balanced performance because of its 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. The laptop is extremely handy and has slim bezels which make the laptop easy to carry around.

The sound quality is average as the speakers are positioned downward therefore, the sound gets blocked when placed on the bed or lap.

  • Distinct and attractive design
  • Fairly good battery life
  • Value for money

  • Tight spacing of keys on the keyboard
  • Small touchpad

9. Best ASUS i3 Laptop: Asus VivoBook 15

Asus VivoBook 15
  • CPU: 3.9GHz Intel Core i3-8145U
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128GB SSD
  • Display: 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080)
  • GPU: 8GB Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • Camera: VGA Webcam
  • Battery: Up to 10 hours

If we consider the price of the laptop, we’re really getting an excellent steal with Asus VivoBook 15. However, if we were to compare it to a bit more expensive products in the market, it falls spectacularly short.

For one, the battery life is quite short. Despite having a relatively lightweight body, it’s a waste to take the laptop anywhere. The battery stays for barely 4.5 hours and if you use it too much, even a shorter period of time.

The performance itself is quite good though. You can play a couple of videos and work on numerous tabs without experiencing lag. It also comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, a widescreen and thin bezel. The colors are wonderful and contrast prettily.

The keyboard comes with a nice backlit lights. The touchpad is one of the things we really liked about the machine. It’s made of glass and depends on precision drivers. It’s heavily sensitive and seems to register commands instantly.

It runs on little slower Intel Core i3-8145U processor at 3.6GHz clock speed. The Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics perform just okay. It has 8GB RAM and very limited storage space of 128GB SSD. The laptop weighs 3.75 lbs. It’s a sturdy little thing for the price too. We think it’s the kind of laptop that’s best suited for home use.

  • Sensitive touchpad
  • Fast fingerprint reader
  • Thin and light

  • Poor TFT panel
  • Short battery life
  • Fan makes annoying whining noises when the load is heavy

10. Best for Student: Asus Transformer Book Flip

Asus Transformer Book Flip
Asus Transformer Book Flip
  • CPU: 1.9GHz Intel Core i3-4030U
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Storage: 500GB HDD
  • Display: 15.6-inch HD LCD (1366 X 768)
  • GPU: Intel HD 4400 Graphics
  • Battery: Up to 5 hours
  • Warranty: 1 year

The thing one really desires in a laptop over anything else is good speed. Unfortunately, the Asus Transformer Book Flip isn’t a great choice on that end. Due to the Intel Core i3-4030U processor with just 1.9GHz speed and drive speed, it is disappointingly slow, though not glitchy. It comes with 6GB RAM and 500GB HDD. However, if you’re willing to upgrade to SSD, which we did, you could fix this one problem though. The speed is exponentially better after the upgrade.

It’s a light laptop but the construction seems to be good. It also has a responsive touch system. The laptop comes with the Fresh Paint application included and we tried drawing random stuff on it. It was quite easy to paint, which is quite rare with a touch screen.

The Intel HD 4400 Graphics work okay for casual gaming. The laptop weighs 4.6 lbs. It also has quite a number of ports, a good keyboard with slightly elevated keypads and an equally nice trackpad. The battery life isn’t that good though, about 4 hours a best. Not what we would generally call a travel laptop.

The truly lacking part is the screen. It has a 15.6-inch HD with 1366 X 768-pixel resolution display. It doesn’t look like what you would expect in a laptop at this price. The colors look faded and make it hard to distinguish stuff. If you’re planning to watch a movie in peace, not what you want to go for.

  • Solid construction
  • Responsive touchscreen
  • Sleek design

  • Microphone has low sound
  • Color isn’t good
  • Slower than expected

11. Best Lightweight Laptop: Asus VivoBook E403NA

ASUS VivoBook E403NA
  • CPU: 2.6GHz Intel Pentium N4200
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Storage: 128 GB Embedded MultiMediaCard
  • Display: 14-inch FHD (1366×768)
  • GPU: 1GB Intel Integrated Graphics
  • Camera: 3MP VGA
  • Battery: Up to 12 hours
  • Warranty: 1 year

While purchasing a laptop, one zeroes in on a lot of features within a price range. ASUS VivoBook E403NA the company’s latest offering, gives you a premium feel and is easy on pocket also.

ASUS VivoBook E403NA comes with a 12 hours long battery life. You can be on the go without any charger as it has been designed for the long haul.

The laptop works on a 2.6GHz Intel Pentium N4200 processor with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. It weighs merely 3.3 lbs which makes it quire portable. If you want your laptop to be an extension of your personality, this one fits the bill.

The laptop has a 14-inch Full HD display and 1366×768 screen resolution. The Fingerprint sensor is a nice addition to the notebook. The sleek structure, streamlined curves, aluminum finish make it a must-have product. The keyboard is excellent, touchpad and buttons are stylish. It has minimal flex in the keyboard and makes it flawless while typing on it.

This notebook has earned appreciation for its unique features and reasonable price. However, there are certain flaws one needs to keep in mind. You can use it casually but it tends to crash when over-stressed.

This laptop is highly recommended for Internet browsing, document surfing, and other associated tasks. It gives you a premium feel and is also easy on the eyes. However, if your primary requirement is games and videos, this is not the one for you. You should rather look & opt for other machines as it has only 1GB Intel Integrated Graphics.

Another demerit is its webcam quality. The low resolution of the camera is yet another hindrance in the photo, video-related assignments.

  • Thin, light and Powerful
  • Sleek design, premium feel
  • Full-day battery life
  • Touchpad with touchscreen-like precision
  • Quad-core CPU allows multi-tasking
  • Fingerprint sensation a good feature
  • Can run Sims 3

  • Display not very vivid
  • 3 megapixel webcam

12. Best Cheapest ASUS Laptop: Asus Transformer Mini

Asus Transformer Mini
  • CPU: 1.4GHz Intel Atom
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Storage: 128GB SSD
  • Display: 10.1-inch Touch (1280 x 800)
  • GPU: Intel HD Graphics
  • Camera: 2MP front-facing
  • Battery: Up to 11 hours

The Asus Transformer Mini is given the name ‘the fun PC’ by the makers. They claim that the device makes managing different programs extremely convenient, allowing you to express creativity in the best ways.

The laptop has basic Intel HD Graphics and 4GB RAM. It runs on Intel Atom with 1.4GHz speed. It provides 128GB of SSD storage to keep your important documents at easy reach. The weight of the laptop is just 1.7lbs which makes it super easy to carry and use it on the go.

Throughout our use, we were very happy with the compact design. It is ultra-thin and super light, and this allowed us to move around with the device easily. Magnesium-aluminum alloy has been used to achieve this.

The 10.1-inch screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, showcases HD display and the 178-degree wide-view technology provides the user with impressive image quality. We discovered that the Windows Hello feature enables the user to unlock the device with a single touch.

We reached the conclusion that the ASUS Transformer Mini T102HA-D4-GR steals the limelight when it comes to battery life as it has the potential to last up to 11 hours. The performance is good enough, though complicated programs would slow it down. We would say that it is worth the price.

  • Amazing battery life
  • Compact design and lightweight
  • Reasonable price
  • Good fingerprint sensor

  • Performance does not satisfy expectations
  • Cramped keyboard
  • Poor customer support

13. Best ASUS Chromebook: Asus Chromebook Flip C434

Asus Chromebook Flip C434
  • CPU: 3.4GHz Intel Core M3-8100Y
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Storage: 64GB Embedded MultiMediaCard
  • Display: 14-inch FHD (1920 x 1080)
  • GPU: 1GB Intel HD Graphics 615
  • Battery: Up to 4 hours
  • Warranty: 1 year

Asus Chromebook Flip is a portable 2-in-1 laptop with a premium design and a vivid display of 1080p. The build quality of this laptop is excellent and its sleek aluminum chassis makes the laptop attractive. It has a vivid bright 14-inch panel with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. The base model reviewed here costs 569$ and is equipped with Intel Core m3-8100Y CPU, 64 GB eMMC storage and 4GB RAM.

The Asus Chromebook Flip C434 also comes with Core i5-8200Y and Core i7-8500Y CPUs, up to 128 GB of eMMC storage and up to 8GB of RAM. The laptop has bezels that surround the display and with a screen-to-body ratio of around 87%, the Chromebook Flip C434 is one of the handiest laptops available in the market.

The Flip C434 also can be flipped 360 degrees into a tablet or a tent mode. The keyboard is silver with a chrome trim outlining. The design is user-friendly and has shortcut buttons for power on/off and volume to facilitate faster work.

The Chromebook also has 1GB Intel HD Graphics 615 which can minimal tasks. And the battery life stands at around 4 hours. It weighs around 3.3 lbs which can feel a little heavy, given the theme of the laptop

  • Large, smooth trackpad
  • Good battery
  • Backlit keyboard

  • Downward facing speakers
  • Laptop sits awkwardly sometimes

14. Cheap ASUS Chromebook: Asus Chromebook C202SA-YS02

Asus Chromebook C202SA-YS02
  • CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Storage: 16GB
  • Display: 11.6-inch HD LED (1366 X 76)
  • GPU: 4GB Intel HD Graphics
  • Camera: 720p
  • Battery: Up to 10 hours
  • Warranty: 1 year

While we certainly weren’t impressed with Asus Chromebook‘s color of the screen, the anti-glare certainly makes it possible to see the screen even under bright sunlight. It comes with 11.6-inch HD LED (1366 X 76) display. The overall brightness is a little dim and the colors were on the dull side.

The Chromebook has1GB Intel HD Graphics and 16GB storage space. It runs on 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 processor and 4GB RAM.

The performance itself is quite good. We have had 21 tabs open at one point and it worked smoothly. It’s only when the battery is really low that the Chromebook lets up. On the other hand, the 10 hours battery is long-lasting for sure. We don’t even think about bringing our charger with the phone if we’re out for an entire day.

It weighs 2.2 lbs. For a Chromebook, it’s a little heavy. However, the material is good. We have dropped it accidentally before and as we’ve seen from some customer’s experience, this isn’t a gadget that easily cracks.

The keyboard is quite impressive. The keys are nicely spaced out and while it’s responsive to touch, it’s not doubly so that you will press lots of keys accidentally. We think this kind of keyboard is best suited to high school kids.

  • Extremely sturdy product
  • Good battery life
  • Nice spacing between the keys

  • Kind of heavy
  • Sometime slows down
  • Resolution isn’t good
