Fujifilm was a brand flying under the radar until the recent years. In the past 5 years, they have released a new set of amazing cameras which quickly overtook the market, and they became one of the best camera brands out there. In this article, we are going to review the 5 best fujifilm cameras in the market for this year. Let’s get started!
1. Fujifilm X-T3
The winner of our best fujifilm cameras list is for sure the X-T3. The Fujifilm X-T3 may be a mirrorless camera but it is the absolute best in its own right and undisputed champion in the Fujifilm lineup. it provides amazing image and video footage quality, and I want to state that it is almost too good to be true, but Fujifilm machines never disappoint with superior image quality. It is also a very capable camera for shooting video, and with amazing features such as precise and enhanced autofocus, 4K video-creation tools, and its user-friendly controls the Fujifilm X-T3 is the very best.
The design of the Fujifilm X-T3 is classic, it carries some hints of old analog cameras, and I think there are a lot of people that will buy it for its aesthetics alone, thanks to its nostalgic 80s look of Fuji’s Fujica series, that can now be found just in collectors homes. I think it is the best looking camera on the market, although it has also ease of use and functionality. Furthermore, the body of the camera is fully dust and moisture-proof, so you can photograph in the rain without worry.
There are analog control dials for ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation, from which the ISO and shutter speed are lockable, and the exposure compensation is pretty sturdy as well and won’t move accidentally. Apart from those, there are plenty of conventional and classic controls that are placed very intuitively.
It is packed with the new X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 image-processing engine, and Fujifilm has stated that the new technology is capable of delivering triple the processing speed of other current models, and I have no complaints about this. It features 26.1 million pixels with a maximum resolution of 6240×4160 pixels in the 3:2 aspect ratio, and is capable of shooting RAW up to ISO 12800.
Amazingly the 4K video with 10-bit recording capabilities that are in full frame in 30 fps, and provides stunningly beautiful results that live up to the aforementioned specs.
When you take into consideration its performance and features, combined with the overall experience of photographing and videographing, I think that you will fall in love at the first use with the Fujifilm X-T3.
2. Fujifilm X-T100
The Fujifilm X-T100 is an excellent mirrorless camera that is a premium model, but I found its user-friendly features that most of the beginners will find joy. It has a superb build, with lots of styles, an electronic viewfinder, and a great number of manual controls that will please experienced photographers. It is the absolute best mirrorless if you want to buy your first mirrorless camera, and it provides amazing image quality for its price.
At this price point, you will not find a more stylishly designed compact system camera than the Fujifilm X-T100, as expected from Fujifilm for carrying the Japan aesthetics into each of their products. It looks like a tiny DSLR camera, with the prism that houses the viewfinder, and it is very retro looking, and you will appreciate it more if you like the old-school vibe.
It also has an amazing build quality, with a textured black plastic body and an anodized aluminum top plate, that looks gorgeous and feels premium. It may not be water and dust-proof but the device feels solid and sturdy, and has a lightweight of 450grams but feels substantial. Furthermore, it has tiny size, making it extremely portable and you can easily put it in your jackets pocket.
The electronic viewfinder is excellent for shooting in bright sunlight, where almost all LCD screens are not useful. Speaking about the screen, the Fujifilm X-T100’s viewfinder sports a 2360k-dot OLED screen that is incredibly sharp. The rear display is excellent 3-inch 1040k-dot LCD touchscreen that can be tilted in three directions.
The camera is equipped with a 91 point autofocus system with Phase Detection setup that is pretty fast and accurate, and it excels in good light conditions. The 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor provides breathtaking stills, with tons of super sharp details, that do not suffer even higher into the ISO range. The colors were excellent and accurate, thanks to Fujifilm’s excellent Film Simulation modes, like the vivid for popping colors, or Classic Chrome for a moodier retro look.
On top of all this, the Fujifilm X-T100 provides great video quality with great detail even at high speeds, it has everything that you may want from a mirrorless and more.
3. Fujifilm X-T30
If you are a budget-conscious buyer like me then you will most likely search for the best value in a product. The Fujifilm X-T30 provides the best value in the Fujifilm lineup, with attractive and compact trademark Fujifilm design, great autofocus, amazing sensor, and countless range of lenses you can choose from, it just doesn’t get any better. I also loved this model because it was very versatile and was great all-around, for still subjects, for moving subjects, and even for videos, all at a reasonable price.
I may have said this multiple times in this list, but the design of the Fujifilm cameras is gorgeous, if you buy for aesthetic purposes only, you can be a star with any Fujifilm model, and this is no exception. It is very lightweight at just 383grams with the battery, and it is very compact and portable that you can even pocket it without the lens.
It has a magnesium alloy build that feels sturdy and solid without adding much to the weight, also it is compatible with all of the Fujifilm’s prime lenses. You also get a good array of retro dials on top that are extremely functional and useful, there are dials for drive mode, shutter speed, and exposure compensation to go along with the aperture ring that is found in the majority of Fujifilm lenses. I think this combination of controls will provide you the best learning experience if you are trying to get in photography, truly amazing from the designers.
Despite being a small and compact camera the Fujifilm X-T30 packs the same sensor and processing engine that can be found on the excellent Fujifilm X-T3. That is the back-illuminated 26.1-megapixel X Trans CMOS 4 sensor and a quick autofocus system with phase detection pixels that are quadruple of those found in the predecessor. This means that the autofocus is very speedy and can lock into the subject in an instant, even in low-light situations of -3EV.
It is also capable of capturing fast-action such as sports or races, with continuous shooting of 8fps, and 30 fps with the electronic viewfinder. The results of the images were excellent and reliable, with attractive exposure, natural colors and tons of detail.
4. Fujifilm X-H1
The Fujifilm X-H1 is the most advanced X series camera until now, with its amazing range of new and refined features, however, it lacks the compact size of the X series that we have come to know and love. To compensate it has amazing in-body image stabilization system, the best viewfinder, touchscreen control, DCI 4K video, and dedicated AF-On button. It is a great camera with a more modern vibe than we usually get from Fujifilm, but this powerful machine will be great for every enthusiast.
The Fujifilm X-H1 has a new design, with a large and more rugged body than its predecessor, the grip is much deeper to compensate the weight and it is sealed against all the elements, it is the most durable camera that I have ever seen. This is also due to the magnesium skeleton that is very thick and strong, interestingly the lens mount has been redesigned to deal with shock and damage.
While some users might complain about the size and look, I found it a very useful device, as it is designed with utility in mind, it has great ergonomics and will please the professional photographer. There are dedicated dials for exposure, ISO, shutter speed, and a dial that you can set to your liking, you also get tons off buttons that are intuitively placed and are very easy to use mid-shooting.
The camera uses the manufacturers 24.3MP APS-C X-Trans III CMOS sensor which is very impressive, as it has a good ISO range. On top of that, the new in-body image stabilization is also excellent, and it is one of the features that users have been waiting for years. It also has a doubled bitrate from its predecessor coming in with 200Mbps with a 400% dynamic range setting and an F-log shooting mode. The viewfinder is bigger with a 3.69 million-dot OLED display with 0.75x magnification.
The sensor provides amazing image quality as expected from Fujifilm, it offers amazing detail and vivid colors that also are natural and very accurate.
With a good range of features, performances, and new durable body, the Fujifilm X-H1 is one of the best high-end cameras on the market, and I would recommend it to professionals that love shooting outdoors.
5. Fujifilm X100F
We are going to start our best fujifilm cameras list with a great travel-friendly camera. Fujifilm is known for producing one of the best cameras in markets, for all categories. Their point-and-shoot cameras are excellent compact and have never been more powerful, especially with the introduction of the Fujifilm X100F. The Fujifilm X100F improves on the already excellent X100 series with a great design, great image quality, and portability, I would recommend this camera to frequent travelers, or for people that do not want to mess up with DSLR camera controls.
The Fujifilm X100F stays true to its origins, and Mr. Masazumi Imai and his design team have done a great job of keeping the looks and retro aesthetics of the original X100. I would say that this camera looks like a smaller and more streamlined version of the X-Pro2, that is also absolutely gorgeous. It has a very refined design language, and its controls are very easy to use and conveniently placed on the right side for one-handed use. The screen on the rear of the device is located on the far left and the rear overall looks very cleaned up and roomy despite having all the controls. When you first feel this camera it feels very solid and substantial but also light, everything about this design clicks.
Fujifilm X100F has provided amazing image quality, it has included Film Simulation modes in the camera, such as across black-and-white mode. The film simulation mode delivers an extremely immersive experience and astounding depth, it is also able to retain delicate highlight details due to Fujifilm’s dynamic range expansion modes was pretty effective too. The 23mm f/2 lens is not as impressive as expected. And some shots have appeared a little murky. But this is the fastest camera in the series allowing you for great spontaneous shots. One of the best cameras for street photography and portraits, skin tones are gorgeous.
You may have other options for a point and shoot cameras that provide better specs or lower prices, however, the experience that the Fujifilm X100F provides is not found on any other camera. It may be very expensive but you are buying Fujifilm quality, as they are known to keep their factory prices for long after.
