The 5 Best Power Banks in 2020

Since we use our devices most of the time, we usually run out of battery on them pretty often. That’s why, we scanned the Reddit recommendations for the best power banks that you can buy this year. We tested them and reviewed them to help you get the best one for your needs. They can be used for Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops & more. Let’s get started.

1. Anker PowerCore

Coming to the top of the list we have the definite best power bank that money can buy the Anker PowerCore. While this device may not be as large as the aforementioned models, it boasts high capacity, with its attractive and streamlined design that will suit the taste of most buyers. It is not intended for laptops or for larger devices, but for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, it is a perfect choice.

This power bank is very compact and it has a very high-capacity as it has rounded edges in its textured black body that is very easy to hold in hand, and it is excellently designed, very aesthetically pleasing. This device is also very lightweight as it weighs just 350grams and measures 6.6×2.4×0.9-inches in total. You can easily put this device in your backpack comfortably and if you don’t mind a little weight you can put it in your pant pockets.

In terms of controls and connectivity, there isn’t a lot going on with these devices, as it has just four LED indicators for the battery, a power button, and two USB ports so you can charge two devices at the same time. This device charges by the Micro-USB port located there and you also get a cable to charge the device.

While this device has no quick charging capabilities it can do plenty on its own right, and thanks to its large 20.100mAh capacity you can charge a contemporary smartphone for about 7 or more times without any problem. The power bank itself is a little slow to charge since it takes about 10 hours to recharge, but it is all worth it since it will take a while to go through its capacity.

What is the most important part about this device is its amazing price, which is also the second cheapest in this list, but also the most capable, perfect job from Anker.

2. MAXOAK Power Bank

As far as the capacity goes nothing can come close to the MAXOAK Power Bank, which boasts a battery capacity of about 50,000mAh, and that much power comes at a price. What I mean by that is not just the price of the device, since I can say that it has a nice and attractive price, however, this device is bulky and heavy, but that is the only caveat of this amazing power bank since it comes with plenty of adapters and power for ages.

To start off I have to say that this device is not for travelers, or for those that want the most portable option since this beast measures 8.1×5.3×1.3-inches in total and it weighs a hefty 2.77-pounds, as much as a laptop. But what is more annoying is that this device’s weight is very unbalanced, as the side without ports has more weight than the other. But otherwise, it is pretty solid, as it rocks amazing build quality, and it should be one of the most durable in the market.

In terms of ports and connectivity, you get tons of options, because this is a pretty versatile device. It includes a whopping four USB Type-A ports of which two are 2.1 and two 1.0, a pair of AC plug-ins, one of which is 12-volt 2.5A and 20-volt 5.0A to complete the package. In the package of the device, you will find a dozen of adapters so you can charge a wide range of devices, also on top of that you also get a DC cable.

This power bank requires no initial setup, and you just have to charge it to start off, however, that’s when things get a little difficult since this device doesn’t charge with any conventional unit, but with its own power supply cable, which is as large as a laptop charger. However, that is essential since other more conventional chargers may take a long time to charge the device, and its own charger does it in no time at all.

Charging speeds of this beast aren’t the most impressive, however, it does it excellently and it can charge a standard laptop about five times before giving up which is the best part about this. You can also recharge your devices while you are recharging the unit itself, which felt very convenient and useful.

3. Omni 20+

If you demand high performance from your power bank for example for recharging your laptop then you have to opt for a beast like the Omni 20+. It has an extremely sturdy build quality, wireless charging feature, OLED screen that tells you everything about the process, slim design for its tremendous capacity and it has a wide range of ports for non-standard devices. If you need plenty from your power-bank this is it.

First off I have to mention the design of this amazing power bank since it is very attractive and aesthetically pleasing as a whole. It has a smooth all-black design with tapered edges giving a semi-gem look, and it is apparent that the design is well-thought, and for a 20,400mAh unit, it is extremely small, as it measures 5×4.8×0.9-inches in total and weighs just 1.4-pounds.

In terms of ports and connectivity, this is a pretty rich device, featuring two USB type-A ports, a USB Type-C port, a DC port, and an American AC outlet completing the package. On top it is flat, and that’s where you place your mobile device with wireless charging. This device continues on its premium claim with its OLED screen which is very useful as the DC port can be used to charge about anything you can think of from 12 to 20 volts at five amps so you can switch settings with the buttons and you can actually turn various ports on and off.

One thing that was very annoying with this device, is that it took very long to charge with its included cables, one of which is Type-C to C the other was type-C to type-A and both of them were pretty slow. I achieved good recharge speeds with a USB Type-C 60Watt laptop charger, however, it is pretty disappointing to not see one included in the package.

In real-life situations, the Omni 20+ worked extremely well as you can charge your laptop and your smartphone at the same time for example, also the wireless charging mode worked pretty good, which I didn’t really expect. While there was no quick charging feature, it worked excellently, and I was extremely pleased with its performance and reliability.

Since it has received some price drops, the Omni 20+ is one of the most powerful and consistent power banks in the market without any doubt.

This device measures 2.44×3.78×0.87-inches and weighs just 7 ounces in total, meaning you can put it easily in your pocket for storage. In the middle of the device, you will find a clickable round button with eight LED battery status indicators, and the eight lights deliver you a good idea of how much battery you have. Besides being really small this device has also pretty durable build quality and proves to be extremely durable since the soft-looking outer shell covers the excellent hard and sturdy body that makes this power bank extremely durable.

The Anker Powercore II has a 10,000mAh power capacity, and it has just one port, so this is the perfect device for users with just one device. This has plenty of charging capacity and for most contemporary mobile devices, this capacity means 2.5-time full capacity charging. Great for smartphones, however, if you need to charge your tablet this might not be the best option since most of the tablets have large batteries. This device is also capable of using Quick Charge features for your supported devices, thanks to its 18W of power.

The biggest selling point of the Anker Powercore II is its output charging speed since it uses the brand new PowerIQ 2.0 technology, and as I told you it delivers 18Watt of power. IT also is capable of using charging speeds of 5V/3A, 9V/2A and 12V/1.5A, all of which are quick charge speeds and the device will deliver max power with them.

The input charging speed fo the device is also pretty fast and I found out that it could charge to full capacity in four hours.

In terms of controls and buttons, this device doesn’t have a lot, as it has just a few things on its body that work excellently. On the top part of the device, you will spot a circle that writes HypeAir, and that is the location where you would place your phone for wireless charging. The power button is located on the side of the device, and you have to press the button for the feature to be activated. On the bottom, you will spot the USB type-A and a micro USB port at the bottom.

This device has a nice capacity of 10,400mAh, which can be used to charge two devices at the same time, with the Wireless charging and through the USB type-A port.
